Kuakapuokalani - Traditional

Kuakapuokalani
He hiwahiwa naʻu
He milimili ʻoe, he lei makamae
Kau e hiaʻai

He nohea no `ʻoe
Ke ʻike me ka pua ka lehua
Kou mau maka, kou minoʻaka
I hoʻoheno ai

Kou leo nahenahe
I aloha ai
Hauʻoliʻoli no ke kani ʻakaʻaka
Ehehene mai

Eia kuʻu wehi
E ʻanoʻi nei
He lei ʻōhelo no ka makua
I pūlama mau

Kukapuokalani
Precious are you to me
Your are my favorite, my never fading adornment
O great delight

You are handsome and
Fine to look at like the lehua blossom
Your eyes, your smile
Are deeply cherished

Your soothing voice is loved
The sound of your laughter
Is joyful and full of glee
Ha ha ha

Here is my tribute to you
My long desired son
An adornment of sacred `ôhelo for the parent
Who will care for and love you
